Outcomes

Outcomes vs. activity.

When the activity of practicing the violin matches the outcome of having a seat in an orchestra.

Goal accomplished.

But when business owners are so easily distracted by activity, and  miss our goal and  to wallow in the sea of exhaustion without accomplishment. It is bad….

It is so easy to be busy.  Busy, busy, busy and we wait for the outcome.  If we are doing all this activity and we’re tired at the end of the day; we must be making money. At the end of the month the  numbers are not  good. We wonder why.

We have experienced activity but no outcomes.

Since the reason to be in business is to make a profit,

We need to ask ourselves,  “ Is this activity a make money thing to do?”.

Activity is good, as long as,  it is alignment with your outcomes.

Activity is sometimes cloaked in a  “Harry Potter” illusion..

Our vision maybe what we want to see, not what  really is.  Magic!!  The illusion of activity. The reality is  outcomes!

Give yourself a daily reality check. At the end of the day ask a few harsh questions about your outcomes for the day:

  1. How many calls did I make?
  2. How many appointments were made?
  3. How many appointment were kept?
  4. How many follow ups did I do?
  5. How many presentations did I make

A few more- questions about the day’s activity and your outcomes.

What success did I have?

What challenges did I survive?

What did I learn today?

What didn’t work? Why

For tomorrow.

List your general priorities for tomorrow.  What outcomes are you expecting to achieve?
