I just started reading this book – a friend linked me to a podcast interview with Dacher Keltner. I was fascinated. As a designer and artist, I am captivated by great design. I feel in awe when I see a beautiful painting or sculpture. and I’m in awe as I read this book. Memories of other experiences, especially awe, surface. Some give me chills, and others warm lovely memorable experiences.
It has reminded me so far to pay attention.
Notice what you’re noticing: the goosebumps, the chill, the recognition that more is happening.
The surprise is that AWE is a surprise. It can’t be created, cultivated, or recognized in a specific scientific setting.
