Peter Allen’s “Everything Old is New Again” should be the theme song for the smash commercial television hit “Golden Bachelor.”
This latest offering in the Bachelor franchise follows the same tired script. A bevy of attractive – but this time, mature – women await their chance to be handed arose and “chosen” by a handsome gentleman – who happens to be 71 and buff.
The eager contestants – who hope to receive a particular sparkling bauble – have another thing in common. They all believe it is not too late to take a chance on a new path for their lives.
Of course, they are doing it on national television. Moreover, they wait for someone else to “pick them” and guide their future.
That sounds a lot like a game of dodgeball during elementary school recess.
I think we all outgrew that approach to life a long time ago.

“Come with Bells On”
